January

A month of planning and preparation for Dig – whilst plants still sleep, so we can prepare for Spring and all that it brings. These ‘Paperwhite’ daffodils – remainders from our 2023 Christmas Fairs – brought some welcome lightness and scent to Henry’s home in the depths of January.

February

Our first orders and deliveries begin to arrive, and, with that, the first of many visits to our favourite plant nurseries to source plants, discover new specimens and plan for peak months. Lydia in particular, our operations lead, spent more time at the plant nursery than anywhere else!

March

Always a big month for us, with the official arrival of spring and more people getting outside and planning their garden. I love spring flowering plants – they all seem so bright, fresh and vibrant. Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’ is perhaps my favourite, with its large green leaves dusted with silver and almost electric-blue, elegant flowers.

April

A month where we spend more time delivering than at our desks (which is nothing to complain about!), fulfilling Instant Bed orders as well as larger ones for Bespoke customers. The van was full of Jungle plants in this photo – all for just one customer who we helped transform a back garden into a lush, urban jungle.

May

In between the madness of deliveries, orders and helping our customers, we also found the time to collaborate with Cox & Cox to help promote their beautiful range of pots and planters. I love working on projects like this – passing on useful gardening and plants tips, and working with like-minded brands and people.

June

Wow, a truly manic month. I’d love to tell you where all these beautiful plants and props were heading in this photo, but I can’t…yet. Something to look out for in 2025. But it’s exciting. Very exciting.

July

A wonderful time for plants and gardens with so much in bloom and looking stunning. We were lucky to be sent lots of photos of customers’ gardens and it’s always a pleasure to see how well they have settled and how happy our customers are. This image is from a garden in North London (but might as well have been the south of France!) which we transformed with the help of our Mediterranean Instant Beds.

August

A month for terraces and paved gardens, with a lot of bespoke projects coming through for people with small spaces in need of colour and structure. It’s fun being able to craft bespoke plant collections for pots and planters.

September

From terraces, to balconies! We’ve helped so many more people this year with their balconies and we’ve loved every minute. I was just grateful not to suffer from vertigo when 50 storeys up this skyscraper in Canary Wharf.

October

The days are shorter, the nights colder but we were still busy with customers and on other projects. I love doing some autumnal flower displays made up from the last bits and bobs in the garden. And that light…

November

We’re always looking to help and inspire our followers, so we had a ball filming a winter pots series with co-founder and design director Alex and our brilliant designer Jenny. We want people to enjoy their gardens all year round, and this was a good example of how it’s possible. There’ll be a lot more like this in 2025.

December

Festive season, which for us means a few Christmas fairs to spread the word on Dig and sell our hand-made ‘forest floor’ displays – full to the brim with ferns, hellebores, ivy and daffodils.

And so we come to the end of the year – bring on 2025! And wishing you all a peaceful festive season from us (Jenny, Alex, Fabi, Serena, Henry, Lydia, and Ed… plus an absent Ben) at Dig. See you next year!
