Anna was one of our very first Bespoke customers. Anna was looking for a full revamp of a well-sized garden in South West London and so our Bespoke service, which connects customers with our team of garden designers directly for a more personalised experience, was perfect.
The garden needed an injection of character. It was dominated by a large evergreen oak (Quercus ilex), and the only features were a trampoline and a well-aportioned garden studio. As a south-facing garden it receives lots of light on the patio terrace but the rest of the garden is a different story. When we first visited, the garden sloped to a shady, and often very muddy other end.
Though all of our themes are designed to work well in both shady and sunny spots, some themes particularly lend themselves to a sultrier space – and few better than The Jungle. It was a perfect fit for Anna and, a few years on, we’re so pleased to see lush, established planting that is thriving in the shade.
Not only is the view from within the garden transformed but the view from the house into the garden has dramatically changed. Anna now looks out onto a beautiful haven for nature. The wooden boardwalk paths that lead to a wooden decking at the other end are particularly attractive – and a cost-effective way to raise a level without groundworks.
The changes to the difficult, darker end of the garden has revolutionsed the space. Where previously there was an awkward, large tree, now there is a seat built around it, with the decking providin a permanent and stable home for the trampoline as well as perfect spot for entertaining. It’s now used by the whole family who love spending time there.
The Jungle’s big selling point is its greenery which provides a canvas for flashes of colour. Passiflora now lights up the side of the garden studio where previously there was little interest
From a tricky, shady space, to a lush rainforest with echoes of home, we’re extremely proud of this Bespoke project – and very grateful to Anna for trusting in us when we were just starting out. It’s a privilege to see everything settled and bringing enjoyment to the whole family a few years on.
